Twofour triumphs at this year’s Royal Television Society Devon and Cornwall Awards

Twofour picked up four awards in all the Royal Television Society Devon and Cornwall Centre Awards Devon 2008 ceremony held on Friday at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel in Plymouth – winning in every programme category it entered.
The Estate We’re In, an ambitious daytime series for BBC ONE in which campaigning grandmother Silla Carron worked with residents of Wolseley Road Flats in Plymouth to improve where they lived, won Best Network Series.
Noels HQ a live show for Sky 1 where Noel Edmonds realized his long held-dream to galvanise ordinary people into action, won Best Network Leisure/Entertainment award. The success of Noel’s HQ has already led to a five part series being commissioned by Sky 1.
Driving Mum and Dad Mad a one-off documentary for BBC Three, which featured two teenagers from Plymouth and their brave parents who permit the cameras to follow them at the exceptionally stressful time of learning to drive, won the Best Documentary Award.
And in the Non Broadcast Production category Twofour Communication’s training film, Beneath the Smile, commissioned by Plymouth CAMHS (Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services) was the winner. The film shows why it is important to recognise and respond to concerns of young people, in a timely way, to prevent escalation of their problems and reduce levels of mental ill health, amongst the 8,000 children across Plymouth currently at risk. The young people featured were included at all stages of production, attending a series of workshops throughout the year to identify:- the stories they wanted to tell, who would tell them and how. They also wrote and performed the music to accompany the film.
“It is fantastic that Twofour’s productions have been recognised in so many categories - from entertainment to serious documentary, in broadcast and in non-broadcast. We have a fantastic team here at Twofour and I am delighted that their work has been recognised by the RTS,” said Mark Hawkins, Group Managing Director, Twofour.
