Times are hard for the great British Boozer - the place where the community gets together to enjoy each other’s company, to drink fine ales of international distinction, to eat a Ploughman’s lunch and to forget their stresses and worries after a hard day’s toil.

Well that’s what the great British boozer used to stand for, but 21st century pub life is very different. Times have changed and our village pubs are beginning to feel the strain – hard economic times mean that punters buy their alcohol cheaply from supermarkets and now play their traditional pub games on games consoles.

So what are we to do to save our Great British pub?

In this brand new Twofour series, four communities are being given the chance to fight back, to create the pub they want in their town, and to bring back their very own British boozer.

The stricken pubs will be taken over by townsfolk who will be coached by award-winning landlord Jay Smith. Everyone will learn the necessary skills to run a successful pub and then open up early doors to see if their pub can become the centre of the community once again.
