A Night of Heroes: The Sun Military Awards, also known as The Millies, honours and awards those military heroes of the past year who have made enormous sacrifices and who have served their country with the highest distinction.
Taking place at London’s Imperial War Museum on Tuesday 15th December, A Night of Heroes: The Sun Military Awards 2009, now in its second year, promise to be even better than last year's extraordinary inaugural event.

Amanda says: “I feel incredibly privileged and humbled to be asked to host such a deserving awards ceremony. None of us can truly understand the sacrifices out troops make fighting on our behalf, but hopefully these awards will go some way to recognising their heroic efforts.”
Phillip adds: “I'm very proud to have been asked to present A Night of Heroes. This Morning is watched all over the world by those in the forces and their families on BFBS and the reaction and feedback we get is invaluable, therefore I know how important it is to say thank you.
“We never forget what you are doing for us. I'm looking forward to a great night of celebration for some truly remarkable people.”
The Sun Editor Dominic Mohan says: “The Sun Military Awards give us the unique opportunity to honour the extraordinary character and selflessness of British Servicemen and women. We are incredibly proud to host these awards in recognition of the sacrifices, dedication and courage of our serving personnel and their families.”
Layla Smith, Controller of ITV Entertainment, says: “There couldn’t be a more fitting time to honour the amazing servicemen men and women of Great Britain. In our own small way we want to say thank you on behalf of the whole country.”
The judging panel for The Millies was made of four military chiefs: General The Lord Guthrie, General Sir Mike Jackson, Admiral The Lord West and Air Chief Marshal Sir Peter Squire.
They were joined by celebrity judges: John Terry, Jeremy Clarkson, Martin Johnson, Dame Kelly Holmes, Andy McNab, Ross Kemp, Myleene Klass and widow of Lt Col Rupert Thorneloe, Sally Thorneloe. The final member of the panel was The Sun Political Editor, Tom Newton Dunn.
