Premieres exclusively on Home from September 14th, 10pm

London, 8th May 2009 - New lifestyle channel, Home, consolidates its relationship with US TV star Ty Pennington with a second and third series of the successful Ty’s Great British Adventure.  Home launches at 9am on Thursday 30th April as part of UKTV’s ongoing network rebrand activity.

Commissioned by UKTV’s Director of Factual and Factual Entertainment Commissioning, Jane Rogerson, and ordered by Home’s Channel Head, Clare Laycock, and UKTV’s Director of Lifestyle, Factual and New Media, Jane Mote, the two 5 x 30’ series will be produced by Twofour and presented by Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’s Ty Pennington.   The first five part series will air in September 2009 with the third series airing in Q2 2010.

Says UKTV’s Jane Rogerson, Ty’s Great British Adventure was a huge success for UKTV Style last year. The series showed a completely different side to Ty – it was a real eye opener not only for him but for our viewers.   We can’t wait to see what Ty does next and whose town he blows into!”

Commenting on the series, Home Channel Head, Clare Laycock adds, “Having a phenomenal talent like Ty Pennington on the channel and in a British home grown commission is a real coup.  Not only does it give us amazing cut through, it brings the real Ty closer to his thousands of British fans. “

Responding to a plea for help from the beleaguered town of Portishead, Ty embarks on a mission to rebuild their much loved open air swimming pool.  Devastated by the council’s decision to close the pool last year, locals have been lobbying rigorously to get their pool back and, after months of campaigning, their wish has finally been granted.  There’s only one problem – they need to reopen the dilapidated pool in May and there’s months of work to be done!

Enter Ty who takes up the challenge and promises to help the locals in a race against time to get the massive project completed in only seven days and within budget.  It’s a big job – the pool needs to be cleared of debris, the changing rooms transformed, a children’s wet play area installed, solar heating fitted, the place redecorated and, just to add some extra pressure, the pool takes seven days to fill and heat.  Will Ty rally the community in time so that future generations can have their own cherished memories of swimming in the sun?

Ty’s next mission takes him to the Scottish border town of Langholm, a once thriving textile town with a rich cultural heritage that has fallen on hard times.  Symbolic of the town’s demise is the loss of its music and arts festival, an annual event that not only gave the local town bands the chance to perform but helped put Langholm on the much needed tourist map.

Taking on his most ambitious British adventure yet, Ty pulls out all the stops to resurrect Langholm’s music festival.  Using all of his trademark enthusiasm and energy, Ty galvanises the community into undertaking this mammoth project. Together they need to transform the historic Kiln Green and neglected castle grounds into a vibrant open air performance space. It’s no small task – they need to create an open air stage, renovate the closed tourist centre and make a music themed play area for the local children.

“Ty was a revelation when we worked with him in Cornwall last year.  The local people instantly warmed to his amazing enthusiasm and energy, as did the UKTV audience, and I am really looking forward to seeing him in action on two more extremely challenging projects,” adds Twofour’s Executive Producer, Joe Houlihan.

Promising to deliver breathtaking transformations, Ty’s Great British Adventure sees Ty doing what he does best - surprising deserving local people who have volunteered to help but who also deserve recognition and reward.  With the clock ticking, will Ty complete his missions of mercy?

The series is overseen by UKTV’s Commissioning Editor, Catherine Catton, with Twofour’s Joe Houlihan as Executive Producer.
