Twofour to produce The Millies for Sky 1

Twofour has been commissioned to make a ninety-minute show honoring the bravery of Britain’s armed forces throughout the world. “The Millies” is being produced in conjunction with the Sun newspaper, which launched a campaign in the autumn to encourage readers to vote for their favorite acts of bravery in twelve individual categories.

The award ceremony, which is being staged at Hampton Court, is to be presented by Tess Daly (Strictly Come Dancing) in front of a star-studded audience which includes Prince Charles, the Prime Minister, Britain’s four military chiefs and a host of celebrities.

A shortlist of three people or groups for each of the twelve categories are being chosen from the public’s nominations and then a panel of top brass and national figures will choose the winners who will be presented with their awards at a glittering ceremony.  It will be a momentous occasion for them, their families and for the nation watching at home.  Dedicated to The Fallen, “The Millies” will recognize the outstanding acts of courage of our servicemen and women and the debt we all owe them.

“The members of our Armed Forces consistently display courage and professionalism that are second to none.  These awards are an exciting opportunity to recognize that, and to celebrate everything that our people and their families do for the nation,” said Chief of Defence Staff Air Chief Marshall Sir Jock Stirrup.

The programme is being executive produced by Twofour’s Mark Scantlebury and Charles Wace and Sky’s Steve Jones.

“The Millies” will be aired on Sky 1 in December.
