UKTV’s Home commissions Twofour to make fourth series with US star Ty Pennington
Britain’s number one homes and gardens channel, Home, continues to develop its successful relationship with US star Ty Pennington with an innovative lifestyle format that will see him return to his design roots.
Twofour is to produce Ty Pennington’s Homes for the Brave (working title), a 5 x 60' series commissioned by UKTV’s Director of Commissioning, Jane Rogerson, and ordered by UKTV’s Clare Laycock, Channel Head of Home, alongside UKTV’s Jane Mote, Director of Lifestyle, Factual & Multiplatform. The series will premiere in peak exclusively on Home in Q4.
UKTV’s Jane Rogerson says, “UKTV’s relationship with Ty Pennington continues to go from strength to strength and our Ty commissions not only do the numbers for Home but are also big hits in the USA. This new series with Ty will play to all his key strengths – his infectious ability to get the best out of people and his incredible design skills.“
Channel Head, Home, Clare Laycock adds, “In May, Home will only be a year old, yet we continue to attract and retain high calibre talent like Ty Pennington by creating innovative and compelling formats. I’m incredibly excited that in 2010, Home will premiere two exciting Ty Pennington commissions, Ty’s Great British Adventure in June and Ty Pennington’s Homes for the Brave in Q4."
In this new five part series, Ty Pennington returns to the UK determined to use his design skills to transform some UK homes in desperate need of some TLC. And where better to start than with some British soldiers, who’ve returned from the front line, and for a myriad of different reasons - whether that’s an expanded family or accommodating an injury – face a new way of life with a home that no longer works for them.
Ty’s gift is to see the possibility in every home and drawing on his incredible creative skills and years of expertise, he creates bespoke designs that will help each soldier settle into their new life. And, just because Ty doesn’t like an easy life, he sets out to complete each transformation in only three days.
Ty Pennington adds, “So much of the design work I've done in the last couple of years has been influenced by the time I've spent in England. I'm pumped to go back to the UK this summer to work one-on-one with some Brits in their own home and mix my design principles with the resources available there. It'll be a challenge for sure--but I have a feeling these military families are accustomed to hard work!"
Melanie Leach, Managing Director, Twofour Broadcast says: “We are delighted to be working with Ty on a fourth series for Home and particularly pleased that his latest venture offers the opportunity to work with brave and deserving British families.” Melanie Leach, Managing Director, Twofour Broadcast
The series is overseen by UKTV’s Commissioning Editor, Tess Cuming, with Twofour’s Steve Regan as Executive Producer and Leigh Seaman for Ty Pennington Productions.
