Heston Blumenthal is Britain's most celebrated chef.  His tiny restaurant in Bray has a world class reputation for extravagant dishes like bacon and egg ice cream, but a year ago Heston took on a very different challenge.  Little Chef gave him a budget of £350,000 and 6 months to come up with a new menu and design to help breathe new life into their chain of roadside restaurants. 

It turned into a culinary clash of cultures.  Heston transformed one restaurant that was an instant hit with the food critics.  If the public liked it, Little Chef promised to roll Heston's vision out.

Now, 6 months after the critically acclaimed launch of the trial restaurant in Popham,  Heston is back to find out whether the restaurant he transformed is still up to scratch, and if Little Chef will roll out his vision as a model for other restaurants.    Has there truly been a revolution in Britain's roadside eateries?
