Twofour's hour long show putting The Spice Girls on Trial goes out on Wednesday 12 December at 9.pm on Five. Is their much hyped reunion a good thing or a bad thing? The programme attempts to find out the answer in a groundbreaking interactive documentary that will culminate in a live vote where the audience decides what they think of the Spice Girls. Were they basically a good thing, creating some of the best pop music of the 90s and also giving young girls great role models? Or were they the starting point for our inane obsession with celebrity culture and plastic pop?

The programme uses interviews with important figures in the history of The Spice Girls and has contributions from a diverse range of commentators including Germaine Greer and Peaches Geldof who analyse the girls’ contribution to popular culture and ask how much impact their music and personalities had on the world.
